Skin Tightening
A pain-free way to "tighten-up" what Mother Nature has relaxed.
The Gentle Yag laser provides the benefits of skin tightening and wrinkle reduction comfortably, with
no downtime and with a much improved side effect profile.
The Gentle YAG Laser tightens skin by transferring heat to the deepest layers of the skin. This particular
laser stimulates cells under the skin to produce natural collagen, elastin and other proteins. By activating
enough of your own collagen source, wrinkles and sagging skin can diminish within weeks of
the treatment. Additional advantages of this procedure are it is FDA approved, it is non-invasive with
no downtime, and there is little or no redness or swelling.
How does the Laser Treatment Work?
The Gentle Yag laser creates a beam of high intensity light that penetrates deeply into the skin tissue where it causes a deep heating of tissues and contraction of the skin. The laser beam is preceded by a short burst of cooling cryogen spray that protects the outer skin and makes the treatment comfortable.
Does it hurt?
Some clients may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, sometimes described as the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. This discomfort resolves in several seconds and is minimized by Candela’s DCD cooling. For some clients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
A treatment regimen usually consists of four monthly treatments. The exact protocol will be determined after a careful evaluation of your skin. The treatment takes approximately twenty to thirty minutes to perform.
What can I expect after treatment?
The skin may be mildly swollen and have a pink color for a few hours after treatment. A cool compress or gel pack will be applied for comfort following treatment. Aloe vera gel is also applied to help soothe and cool the skin. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours. After the laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or higher). In the first few days after treatment, do not scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers.
Are there any side effects?
Your risks are minimal, Side effects may include redness and swelling. Rare side effects may include hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, blistering and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area – these usually do not last more than a few days. Permanent side effects are rarer.
